New media is a standard term to define the new forms of digital and electronic communications done with the help of computer technology like audio and video streaming, web sites, email, online forums, and many others. - Internet marketing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Internet has brought many unique benefits to marketing, one of which being lower costs for the distribution of information and media to a global audience.
What exactly is online marketing? It is sometimes called as internet marketing, and it simply means marketing your services or products through the internet. With the advent of the digital technology, the internet has also greatly dominated the business world. People can communicate easily around the world in a matter of seconds and with such low cost. With the low cost of using the internet many businesses have taken that advantage and found ways to market their business online. But it does not simply mean that you’ll just send out information about your products or services. You must also build up influence in online marketing in order to get them to actually buy or avail of your offer.
So how do you actually get to influence your online market? Or how do you get your niche market? As a business, you must establish first an internet presence by building a website wherein you can place information about your product or service. It is where people can go to in the internet if they want to buy something from you. There are plenty of references you can get in the net on how to build your website as a beginner. After you have set up your very own website, the next thing that you must do is to drive in traffic into it. You must spread the word that you have an online business. One way of doing it is by registering in online communities and posting and replying to topics, with a signature link to your site, related to your business. You can also create mini sites by posting blogs and articles having outgoing links pointing to your site. There are many other ways on how to do it but it is beyond the scope of this article.
It is important that you must first try to build up your influence in online marketing before you make your customers or visitors to buy. Establish a relationship with them by soliciting information on what they need and want. Offer and send free information that will satisfy them. By doing this you can attain a sense of trust with your prospective customers. In a way, they will also trust the product you are selling or the service you are offering. Maintain that trust and relationship you have with them and they will eventually go back and purchase more from your site.

Article marketing, in addition to distributing / offering free download of teaser ebooks (those written for a target audience presold on your product niche), could also be considered a good way to 'influence' your readers/ potential customers. And this is done without or in addition to optimising your site for keywords. There are so many ways to bring in targeted traffic and show your readers you know your stuff, thereby establishing authority. Nice hub.

One way to be influential, to make your visitor do something, is to have a blog that authoritatively discusses a topic and avoids too obvious sales pitches. If the article is crafted to interest the reader in the topic, the reader will take it from there and click on the ad links and banners on the blog, links that are related to the article. That increases the chance for conversion. This is standard, textbook strategy for affiliate marketing. Of course it would help if the blog is at least a year old and comes recommended in the niche's circle. I'm into online marketing and I'm always open to new ideas, and to sharing ideas.
